Frequently asked questions

Section overview

Questions we are asked often.

Clear answers on who we work with, how we charge, and how we work with your existing advisers.

  • What size of business do you work with?

We work with businesses of every size, from owner managed companies to larger corporate groups, and with transactions ranging from single asset purchases to multi million pound acquisitions.

  • Do you work across the UK?

Yes. Our service is UK wide, with a strong presence in Scotland and a growing team in London.

  • Are you a lender?

No. We are a credit broker and adviser. We work with more than 400 lenders to find the most suitable funding for each client.

  • Are you regulated?

Yes. Channel Finance Group Limited is directly authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

  • How do you charge?

Advisory work is charged on an agreed fee. For finance, we may charge a fee and may also receive a commission from the lender. We always disclose how we are paid before you proceed.

  • How long does it take to arrange finance?

It depends on the type of funding and the complexity of the deal. Some facilities can be arranged within days; acquisitions and development finance usually take several weeks. We will give you a realistic timetable at the outset.

  • Can you help if my business has been declined elsewhere?

Often, yes. A decline usually reflects the lender, the presentation or the structure rather than the business itself. We will review the position and tell you honestly what is achievable.

  • Do you help with buying a business?

Yes. We advise on target assessment, valuation, structure and due diligence, and we arrange the acquisition finance.

  • Do you help owners sell their business?

Yes. We prepare businesses for sale, identify buyers, manage the process and negotiate terms.

  • Will you work with my accountant and solicitor?

Always. We work alongside your existing advisers and keep them informed throughout.

  • Do you provide legal or accountancy services?

No. Our advice draws on financial, accounting and legal understanding, but formal legal and accountancy work remains with your own professional advisers.

  • Is my enquiry confidential?

Yes. Every enquiry is treated in confidence and handled in line with our privacy notice.
